Monoclonal Antibody Treatment Distribution Change

On September 13, 2021, HHS announced a change in how Monoclonal Antibody Therapeutics will be distributed to health care providers due to supply shortages and an increase in demand nationwide. Starting Monday, September 13^th, providers are no longer able to place direct orders for the antibody drugs and instead are to go through their state government, a distribution process much like the process followed November 2020 through February 2021. The HHS will determine the weekly allotment each state and territory receives based on the Covid-19 case burden and utilization of the drugs for treatment. In response to this announcement, Governor Beshear said the state government will supervise the distribution to providers throughout the state.
