Monoclonal Antibody Treatment Distribution Change

On September 13, 2021, HHS announced a change in how Monoclonal Antibody Therapeutics will be distributed to health care providers due to supply shortages and an increase in demand nationwide. Starting Monday, September 13th, providers are no longer able to place direct orders for the antibody drugs and instead are to go through their state government, a distribution process much like the process followed November 2020 through February 2021. The HHS will determine the weekly allotment each state and territory receives based on the Covid-19 case burden and utilization of the drugs for treatment. In response to this announcement, Governor Beshear said the state government will supervise the distribution to providers throughout the state.
