HHS Extends COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Until April 2021
On January 7, 2021, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) extended the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) until April of 2021. The original PHE declaration was made January 31, 2020 and has now been extended four times, with the most recent extension due to expire January 21 absent the extension. The extension of the PHE allows federal agencies and healthcare providers to continue to use and rely upon several blanket waivers and flexibilities to assist in the delivery of care, including expanded telehealth coverage and waiver of certain reporting requirements.
