Civic Involvement
Our lawyers are involved in all aspects of the communities in which we live and work. Nearly every day, a Wyatt attorney is participating in a non-profit board meeting, volunteering with children or raising funds to help those in need.
Santa’s Court
Wyatt attorneys and staff regularly donate toys and monetary contributions to the Louisville Bar Association Santa’s Court Toy Drive which benefits children not adopted from Salvation Army Angel Trees. For Wyatt’s annual Angel Tree Project, we have provided gifts, winter wear, books, arts and crafts materials, and other needed supplies to children and senior Angels in need. Each year approximately 6,000 families with over 13,000 children are served through these programs.
Metro United Way
Wyatt’s Louisville and Lexington offices hold an annual chili luncheon, gift raffle and silent auction to benefit the Metro United Way. Wyatt proudly supports the organization’s commitment to community and the service it provides to 13 Kentucky counties.
Clean Water for All
Wyatt’s Louisville office collected shoes to benefit EDGE OUTREACH. EDGE is an international organization that protects the lives of nearly 400,000 people each year by providing training, and equipment, to individuals seeking to address water quality and sanitation issues in developing countries and post-disaster environments.
Supporting Education
For many years, the Lexington office of Wyatt has participated in KET’s (Kentucky Educational Television) annual Telefund, the March-on-air pledge drive. Every day, KET reaches into the homes and classrooms of more than four million people in seven states. Recognized nationally as an industry leader, KET is the largest public broadcasting network in the country, second largest in the world, and the only statewide media resource in Kentucky.
During Telefund, Wyatt attorneys and staff donate an evening of their time to answer calls and take pledges from donors. There is also friendly competition to see who can obtain the largest amount of pledges by making calls to friends, family and co-workers that are watching from home. Wyatt’s volunteer involvement at KET is anchored by Sharon Gold, a partner in our Lexington office.
Giving of Our Time
In Memphis, Mark Vorder-Bruegge, Partner in Charge of Firm Technology, recently received the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Tennessee Lawyers Assistance Program (TLAP). The Tennessee Supreme Court established TLAP as an approved impaired lawyers program to educate the legal profession concerning alcoholism, chemical dependency, stress, depression and other emotional health issues, and to assist and support all bar associations and lawyer assistance programs in developing and maintaining methods of providing effective solutions for recovery.
