Wyatt Secures Complete Defense Verdict for Garmin International
In a challenging case presenting highly technical evidence, multiple liability theories, competing expert opinions, and a detailed reconstruction of events stemming from a boating incident on Lake Cumberland, Wyatt’s Don Kelly and Daniel Reed secured a complete defense verdict for Garmin International last week. In an eight day jury trial in Somerset, Kentucky, Plaintiffs alleged a product defect in Garmin’s marine autopilot system was at fault. Six separate claims against Garmin for strict product liability and negligence went to the jury. The jury rejected all six, with five of the six counts decided unanimously. It’s always an honor to stand up for a client in court, and we’re grateful for the trust Garmin placed in our team, and for a thoughtful jury who was willing to work through the complicated issues of a case overlaid with emotional and life altering injuries.
