Memphis Stone & Gravel
These two old-line Memphis companies, although not twins, are certainly siblings, and the perfect complement for one another.
The Memphis Stone and Gravel Company mines and processes sand and gravel, producing aggregates for use in ready-mix concrete, hot-mix asphalt and road bases. Lehman-Roberts Company is a highway construction operation, manufacturing asphalt and paving roads across Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. Perfect family harmony.
Memphis Stone’s roots reach back to the late 1800s, when its first and second presidents were contractors on the Santa Fe Railroad and the New York City subway system. Over the past 100 years, the firm’s asphalt and gravel base materials, used in parking lots, highways, interstate and airport properties, have supplied a large portion of the infrastructure of west Tennessee and north Mississippi.
Founded in 1939, Lehman-Roberts tackles everything from small residential jobs to multimillion dollar interstate projects. Its many asphalt plants are paired with state-of-the-art testing facilities to ensure that each aggregate mix meets stringent standards. In fact, Lehman-Roberts has routinely been the top choice for the 1.7 mile pavement test track of the National Center for Asphalt Technology, which tests mix designs and asphalt performance.
Wyatt lawyers have assisted both companies with mineral leases and land purchases, permitting, and zoning applications for more than 30 years.
