Richard Hopgood is a member of the Firm's Real Estate & Lending Service Team.  He concentrates his practice in representing retailers, developers, landlords and tenants in commercial real estate with an emphasis on retail and office developments.  Mr. Hopgood also has extensive experience in oil and gas acquisition, financing and development.

Representative Matters

Mr. Hopgood's real estate experience includes national work on behalf of national retailers, landlord’s and tenants who have constructed, and now operate, over 50,000,000 square feet of retail and industrial properties. Mr. Hopgood has extensive experience in advising clients and negotiating real estate purchase, leasing and mixed-use development projects. Mr. Hopgood has also represented mining and oil and gas exploration and development companies in land use and eminent domain actions, as well as the leasing, acquisition, operation of financing of undeveloped and developed properties throughout the U.S. Mr. Hopgood was lead counsel on appeal in the case of State Street Bank & Trust v. Heck's, Inc., 973 S.W.2d 626 (Ky. 1998), which overturned existing precedent and established new decisional law regarding equitable mortgages.
