On March 28, U.S. District Court Senior Judge Karl Forrester handed down three rulings in favor of Wyatt's Kentucky hospital clients. One ruling found that the hospitals are not bound by an agreement between the managed care companies and the state, and therefore the managed care companies should pay the hospitals 100% of their rates for emergency services and "reasonable value" (to be determined later) for all non-emergency services (click here to read the order). Another ruling allows for Kings Daughters' Medical Center to intervene in the case (click here to read the order). The third ruling allows for the hospitals to bring the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services into the action for unlawful approval of the state's "hastily concocted" managed care program (click here to read the order).
