Michael N. Fine Named Chair of the Tax and Finance Practice Group for the American Health Lawyers Association

Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, LLP is pleased to announce that the American Health Lawyers Association has selected Michael N. Fine as its Chair of the Tax and Finance Practice Group.

The AHLA is the nation’s largest, non-partisan educational organization that has been devoted to legal issues in the health care field for the past 50 years.  The Association provides a platform for interaction and information exchange, produces non-partisan educational programs, products and services and serves as a public resource on health care legal issues.  The AHLA fosters communication between and among its members to help better serve their clients.  The Tax and Finance Practice Group addresses a wide range of issues such as IRS audits and rulings, tax-exempt status, intermediate sanctions, bond financing, joint ventures, physician and executive compensation, and other issues faced by nonprofit and for-profit health lawyers.

Mike Fine is a Partner in the Firm’s Health Care Service Team.  He joined Wyatt in 2015 after serving as the Co-Chair of the Tax Exemption Affinity Group at McDermott Will & Emery, LLP in its Chicago and Washington D.C. offices.  Mike is a frequent speaker and author and has written numerous publications, including articles on Section 501(r)’s requirements for tax-exempt hospitals.  He currently serves as the Vice Chair of Educational Programs for the AHLA’s Tax and Finance Practice Group and will take his post as Chair of the Tax and Finance Practice Group on July 1, 2017.
