Are you prepared for a data breach?

One new general Kentucky data breach notification law will become effective January 1, 2015 which will require governmental agencies and many entities doing business with governmental agencies to have security and breach investigation procedures and practices in place. There are daily news stories about lost laptops containing sensitive information, not to mention stories of creative and persistent hackers who might be half a world away. A data breach is not a question of “if” it happens, but “when” it happens. Will you be prepared?

Who Should Attend?

This program should appeal to anyone who has a role regarding personal or confidential information – whether the information is that of a customer, employee, patient, student, job applicant or it is a trade secret or other proprietary information. Board Members, CEOs, CIOs, CFOs, HR, PR Departments and in-house counsels all are part of the team.

This program will help you:

  • Understand your responsibilities under the new Kentucky laws, as well as other existing laws
  • Put together a data privacy team before the breach happens – both internally and externally
  • Prepare a Security and Breach Response Plan
  • Understand the lifecycle of a breach
  • Analyze the resources available to assist in preparedness, such as security testing
  • Understand insurance alternatives to avoid bet-the-company issues from a catastrophic breach
